Volvo has unveiled their most luxurious interior yet in the form of the XC90 SUV.

As you would expect from a Volvo, the interior fully embraces Swedish styling cues, focusing on a minimalistic layout rather than a dashboard that is filled with buttons and dials.

Volvo says that this was designed to limit the amount of distractions inside the cabin by keeping the drivers hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road.

The driver is able to control all functions of the car through a combination either state-of-the-art voice recognition or by using the thumb controls on the steering wheel itself.

A host of display systems relay information back to the driver; including an iPad sized and portrait-oriented centre display as well as a digital dashboard and heads up display (HUD).

Volvo is also taking a hint from the mobile word and will support cloud storage, apps and full iPhone and iPad integration through Apple’s CarPlay system.

The XC90’s layout is also fairly intuitive, allowing for all five of the rearmost seats to be individually adjusted and moved around. Volvo also claims that the XC90 will have best-in-class rear seat access and four-zone climate control.

Volvo is aiming to release the XC90 in European markets early next year, and with any luck we should be receiving local stock by mid-2015.
