Alfa Romeo’s range-topping Green Cloverleaf, or Quadrifoglio Verde, models, will be receiving a general update later this year.

The biggest change is to the Giulietta QV, which now features a brand new engine and dual-clutch gearbox, both of which are actually a direct import from the 4C sports car.

This means that while the Giulietta’s engine displacement will not change, the new 1 750 cc unit is lighter and produces more power, endowing the QV with 177 kW of maximum urge.

Together with the new six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the result is an improved 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6,6 seconds, rivalling the acceleration stats of the Golf GTI and Focus ST.

Alfa Romeo has also carried over some other bits and pieces from the 4C, including a new fuel intake and exhaust system, which is said to have improved the QV’s exhaust note.

The gearbox can be driven in full auto mode, or controlled via the steering wheel-mounted paddles, and will adapt its responsiveness based on the setting selected through Alfa’s DNA drive selection system.

The QV also gains bigger Brembo brakes, a new body kit and wheels of up to 18 inches in size.

Alfa’s junior QV, the Mito Quadrifoglio Verde, will also be receiving a slight update, although not a completely new engine. Instead, buyers will be able to select the same six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which will no doubt broaden the car’s appeal.

The faster gearbox not only improves the Mito’s 0-100 km/h sprint time by 0,2 seconds, but is also benefits fuel economy by a claimed 10 percent.

Both models will be on sale in Europe from July this year, with a local release expected before the end of 2014.Alfa Romeo Mito QV
