Honda has used the Geneva motor show to present the world with a final looking version of their second generation NSX supercar, some 25 years after the original was released.

Information has been trickling in from Honda over the last two years with regards to the NSX, but this is the first time where we have an almost complete picture of the car.

Almost complete because Honda has still not announced the final power output, which has been rumoured to be in the 410 kW range. Honda says that they are not out to grab headlines with the power of the NSX, as the car has never been about the figures, but rather how it makes the driver feel.

Powering the car will be four motors: three electric and one petrol. The petrol unit will take the shape of a twin-turbocharged V6 that will be linked to a nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while one of the electric motors will also be housed in between the gearbox and engine. Honda says this electric motor will aid acceleration and shifting performance.

The remaining two electric motors will be mounted to a front wheel, and power that wheel independently. This will give the NSX four-wheel drive, but with a very specific power delivery ability to the front wheels.

Considering the car is made from a light weight ultra-high-strength steel and aluminium structure with a carbonfibre floor it should not have too much trouble with weight, and with the instant torque from its electric engines we struggle to see how 410 kW could not be mind-blowingly exciting.

Even so, Honda has made it clear that the technology behind the NSX was all put together to enhance the cars dynamic abilities. Things such as Agile Handling Assist (AHA) make use of the electric motor’s instant torque to help with handling, but will only be triggered if it enhances the drivability of the car.

It has also been mentioned that the Honda NSX is meant to be true to its legacy: a car that is as involving as an exotic but that is priced as an every day sports car, and we are very much looking forward to what Honda can achieve with this in mind.

Honda is also eager, and have said that they are hoping to start delivery of the NSX to European customers before the end of the year.
