Super-luxurious Range Rover SVAutobiography revealed
Jaguar Land Rover has revealed the latest addition to its Special Vehicles range, but this time it is not a performance car.
Instead, the company’s skunkworks has created the most luxurious and most expensive Range Rover ever, a vehicle that will go on sale towards the end of the year in Europe.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography can either be ordered in standard or long-wheel base format, and starts its transformation by adding a two-tone paint job. The all-black upper body can be combined with one of nine choices, and if that is not enough to announce that this Range Rover is different, it will have new lettering on the bonnet and a unique chrome grille.
But it is behind the doors that SV has really gone to work on the Range Rover which now features control surfaces finished in aluminium. The rear seats, where owners of a Range Rover SVAutobiography will presumably spend most of their time, now come with powered deployable tables as well as a chiller compartment.
There are also more luxurious carpets and aluminium coat hangers in the rear.
Range Rover will also throw in two additional seats which are attached to the tail gate. These ‘Event Seating’ units are finished in Windsor leather and would possibly the most comfortable way to quickly conduct a impromptu business meeting out in the countryside.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography will be available with the company’s normal TDV8 engine, or the 404 kW 5,0-litre supercharged V8 from the Range Rover SVR. The SVR is meant to be a performance SUV, so Range Rover has said that it has retuned the engine to reflect the SVAutobiography’s luxurious intentions.
This is no doubt a response to the soon to be released Bentley and Rolls Royce SUVs which will challenge the upper echelons of the Range Rover line-up. Mercedes-Benz is also working on a new luxury SUV which will probably wear the GLS name plate when it is released.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography will be shown at the upcoming New York Motor Show.
