Vengeance takes the form of an Aston Martin

British coach builder Kahn Design has released a sketch of what it calls the Vengeance: the latest addition to its small stable of modified vehicles.

The Vengeance is inspired by the Aston Martin designs of the 1980s and 90s which is why it looks so similar to the DB9.

Coach building is the process by which a design firm reskins a car, using its underpinnings as the basis for building something unique – and very often exceptionally expensive. In most cases either the mechanical components are kept the same and the design of the car changed, or the car is made to look like a heritage vehicle but has a modern platform and engine.

The Vengeance is basically an Aston Martin DB9 that has been altered to portray Kahn’s vision, which is described as “the silhouette of a sabretooth on the prowl”. Only the design aspect of the Vengeance deviates from the DB9 – the rest of he car remains complete and unchanged.

This means that power still comes from a 5,9-litre V12 producing 380 kW and which was good enough to propel the standard Aston Martin DB9 from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6,4 seconds, which might feel a little tame compared to today’s sports cars, let alone supercars.

No pricing or detailed description of the Vengeance is available yet, but Kahn claims it will “represent extremely good value for a limited-edition coach-built car”.

In the past, modern coach-built Jaguars have been priced at close to six times the price of the underlying model, so no matter what, the Vengeance will not be cheap.
