RPM TV Schedule 29 June 2016: Seven-car performance shoot-out. Plus BMW i3 REX
Every 18 months or so, RPM TV gathers a group of performance cars for a track-based comparison. Our 2016 performance feature includes the hugely anticipated BMW M2, facing off against two of the sharpest ultra-hatches out there: the Audi RS3, and newly revitalised Mercedes-AMG A45.
Also on the list and spoiling for a fight is the most powerful front-wheel drive standard production car on the planet: the high-tech Honda Civic Type R. And then we have three of our favourite hot hatches joining the fray: the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde (tested here in upgraded Squadra Corse trim), the Renault Mégane RS Trophy 275, and the Ford Focus ST3.
Two days of testing at the Midvaal Raceway circuit near Meyerton produced some interesting results.
There have also been some new developments in our long-term test fleet garage. The all-electric BMW i3 BEV has made way for its range extender-equipped BMW i3 REX stablemate.
RPM remains in its normal time slot at 20h30 on SuperSport 8 on Wednesday 29 June. As last-minute changes to the broadcast schedule are frequent, please check the latest transmission schedule under ‘Motorsport’ on the SuperSport website’s ‘TV’ section, or the DStv Electronic Programme Guide.
If you have a PVR decoder, set it to record the entire RPM TV series, and never miss an episode!
