RPM TV Schedule 06 July 2016: VW Cross Up!, Peugeot 308 Auto, Volvo XC90 T8, Isuzu KB300

RPM TV’s weekly motoring coverage this week includes new products from Volkswagen, Peugeot and Volvo, while we welcome a new Isuzu KB to our long-term test fleet.

Now offering a more practical five door layout, the funky VW Cross Up! minicar is hoping to attract more buyers. But can it rival the bigger, more affordable Vivo?

The Peugeot 308 GT-Line AT adds an automatic gearbox to an underrated formula that deserves a lot more attention. But can the 1,2-litre three-cylinder engine cope with an auto transmission?

The Volvo XC90 T8 is the range flagship, and employs hybrid technology. We drive it to the KZN Midlands and back to find out what makes this high-tech all-terrainer tick.

And finally, we’re off to Port Elizabeth to meet up with the newest member of the RPM TV long-term fleet – an Isuzu KB300 LX Double Cab – on the production line, before taking it on a 1 400 km road trip back to Johannesburg.

RPM remains in its normal time slot at 20h30 on SuperSport 8 on Wednesday 06 July. As last-minute changes to the broadcast schedule are frequent, please check the latest transmission schedule under ‘Motorsport’ on the SuperSport website’s ‘TV’ section, or the DStv Electronic Programme Guide.

If you have a PVR decoder, set it to record the entire RPM TV series, and never miss an episode!

Hi I enjoy you show a lot. My question is will I be able to drive with the VW cross up from Pretoria to port elizabeth

Hi Jannie – there is no reason why you couldn’t drive the Cross Up! from Pretoria to PE, or any long cross-country distance.
Obviously, it’s a small car, so filling it with passenger and luggage will compromise performance, but even then, it should
be more than up to the task.
