RPM TV Ep373, 09 Nov 16: Porsche 718 Boxster S. Renault Captur 1.5 dCi. Mercedes-AMG SL65. Mini Cooper Clubman update.

It may have swapped its flat-six for a turbo four, but the Porsche 718 Boxster S is arguably the most dynamic iteration of the sports car brand’s ‘entry-level’ roadster yet. We drive it in the Western Cape.

The Renault Captur has become a popular choice in the small SUV segment. Adding turbodiesel power should build more demand, while the Sunset Edition tested here brings some brightness to the Captur party, too.

It might not be the nimblest of sports cars, but the Mercedes-AMG SL65 is very, very rapid and utterly effortless, be it in the twisties or on the open road. What better place to experience the beast than on Mpumalanga’s winding routes?

Our long-term update focuses on the most recent addition to our long-term test garage: the Mini Cooper Clubman, which is already proving more dynamically appealing than expected.

Finally, our news coverage looks at the new Renault Kwid – an affordable alternative to conventional entry-level hatches; and the Suzuki Baleno, which introduces a brand new platform, while offering uncanny interior space. Both cars will feature in full on next week’s show.
