We've covered around 400km's today, on our way to our not-so-secret test location for our Performance Feature, and what struck me during our time on the road was something quite interesting…
Our convoy of 8 cars included models that varied in power, price and prestige, yet all of them had the same effect on just about all the people we saw: forget the World Cup, what brings South Africans together is a bunch of decent sports cars! From the guys in the forecourt, to the ladies cutting the grass on the Free State verges; from the farm labourers to the salesman on the road to his next stop - all of them seem excited by the sights and sounds of great cars. Given half a chance, they talked to us about them and took photos of them, and the car knowledge of the average guy in the street never ceases to amaze me.
The bio brigade may not be happy that we're burning more fuel than usual during our testing, but at least we're doing our bit for nation building…
